Language plug-ins was created by sylvanr
I have used the English plug-in to change some CB wording previously on my site www.lifestoriesnetwork.com and that worked great but now have a couple of questions about language plugins.

1. I have not updated CB to version 2.0.9 yet and before I do, I just want to know if I will have to re-install the English language plug-in again that I had modified or will that not be affected by the upgrade to CB 2.0.9?

2. I have not done much promotion of my site yet because I am still doing a lot of testing but I noticed that most of those that have joined so far have the .ru extension and so I assume they are Russian? I am not sure why this would be the case but I noticed that there is a Russian language plug-in for CB. Is it possible to have multiple language plug-ins installed and then give the end user some capability to change the language on their end? I would want the default to be the English plug-in I installed previously but wondering if there would be a way to have a drop down box or something where the end user could change the language for themselves?

Yes, otherwise you'll be missing strings. If you want your site in English, but want to change a few strings you should try the language override plugin usage found below.

It's possible those users are spammers/bots. You may want to install CB AntiSpam and have captcha enabled at the very least.

Yes, it's possible to have a completely multi-lingual Joomla and CB site. You need to first have a Joomla language extension for the language you're wanting. Next install a CB language plugin for that language as well. So in your case you need a Russian language extension and a Russian CB language plugin. They can select their language using the params field, which you can enable for registration display in CB > Field Management. More language usage information can be found in the CB 2.0 Primer Book and at the below link.
