CB connect / Facebook Registration was created by pdeleeuw
Hi all,

which field-name from Facebook must be connected to the CB -Field "Facebook-ID"?

I tried with the field "Kennung" in German (first in the list) and it works for new users. Recent users however cannot be found by the system and CB Connect wants to create a new user.
The "Kennung" is a 17 digit ID, the recent users have a 9 digit FB ID....

Thank you for any help.

Best regards
Peter

You don't map to the social fields at all. They're automatically populated by CB Connect. The same is applied to Name, Username, Email, Avatar, and Password fields; do not map to them. The ID supplied by Facebook is now Application specific. They no longer provide the users actual Facebook ID. There is no workaround for this as it's a change in their API. CB Connect 7.x handles app scoped IDs fine though.

Hi Kyle,

What's about the ID length?
Has there been a change in regards to the ID number?
If yes, what does that mean for the data handling?

Best regards
Peter

What's about the ID length?

Yes, the application specific IDs are longer.

Has there been a change in regards to the ID number?

Users that have already authenticated the application will continue to use their normal Facebook ID. Those that are newly authenticated will be using the application specific ID. That's just how Facebook has changed it and there's no way around it as it's how their API functions now.

If yes, what does that mean for the data handling?

Doesn't mean anything. This is all done behind the scenes and you shouldn't have to worry about it at all. Everything should work as normally. You may have some issues with Facebook IDs linking to their profile using the Facebook field, but aside from that they should be able to login just fine.

Sorry to bother you again with this item, but I have still not solved the problem...

Former users, that have a FB-ID in the user Database, are not anymore able to login using the FB-login button. The system wants to create a new user, and stops at the end saying "Danger, the Email address is allready in use".

I do not want to delete the users and ask them to re-register.
How can I proceed?

Best regards
Peter

Did you create a new application on Facebooks end? Existing IDs should continue to work fine according to Facebook for existing applications, but if you created a new one those users will need to re-link their accounts. CB Connect has no control over this and has to work with whatever ID Facebook provides. If Facebook is now giving application specific IDs for those users then there's nothing I can do about it. There is no API to turn application specific IDs into Facebook IDs either so there's no way to do a fallback.
