Hi, assistance is requested for the privacy settings, please.

I am using Joomla - version 3.4.1, CB - version 2.0.9, CB Privacy - version 4.0.3, K2 - version 2.6.9

I have created two lists. One list is for view by only our members and it acts as our member directory. On that list, all applicable contact information about a member is visible to other members. That list works well because specific fields are not being hidden at this time. The overall setting works to restrict public view of the list intended for members-only.

The immediate problem is with the second list. www.asaa-avart.net/asaa-artists The second list is publicly visible and the only members who are included on that list are those who hold "artist" level membership. The control setting to include only artist level members in the list works successfully. The problem is that all contact information displays in all fields, regardless of my attempts to hide by default a few fields, specifically address and phone number information. I have tried to set this so members can choose the level of privacy for public view or hidden fields. No matter what privacy setting I put into place for a field I am trying to hide, all fields remain visible to the public.

Can you assist? I did not find an answer to this in the Professional forum. There is reference to settings in some topics, but I have already worked with everything I can detect in my website's settings and still have not succeeded in controlling the privacy visibility of some fields on th e public list. Because there are so many settings, it would be difficult to explain in the Forum every on that I have addressed. If you look at profile settings in the member list, please use the entries for Kristin Hill which are set to hide street and phone, although the fields are still visible.

Thank you,
Kristin

How are you trying to control the privacy for those fields? Field privacy controls? Tab privacy controls? or profile privacy controls? Profile privacy by default won't protect fields, but only direct profile access. Tab and field privacy controls should both hide the field values fine. What privacy setting are you trying to use?

I don't see address or phone on your list linked above. I see avatar and a description with a see more link.

Kyle, thanks for your reply. To see the full profile information, please click the profile in the list, or the "see more…" link to open the full member description.

I am using the field privacy controls and the profile privacy controls to set the visibility. For example, the field privacy controls for street address are set at CB Field/ Integrations / CB Privacy
Display -- user can control privacy
Registration -- enable
Default -- View Access Levels/Registered
-- Usergroups/ Registered
Edit Display -- Normal CB settings

I do not believe I have made any tab privacy control settings.

You set the privacy controls to user controlled instead of moderator controlled. This means if the user has a privacy row for that field stored already then the default does nothing. The default only applies when no privacy row for that user and that field has been stored. Edit the users profile and ensure the fields privacy is set how you're wanting. If it's not then they had a privacy row stored for that field before the default was configured.

Kyle, I have reviewed and adjusted settings, but I have not had success yet with hiding the street address line from public view, though I believe all settings are requesting privacy to hide the line from the public while allowing users/members to see the street address line.

Focusing on the address/street line of the profile, as administrator I have set everything that I can find in field and user management to allow user choice for street address privacy, with a default setting of "hidden" for street address by administrator. I have also acted as a logged in member user and edited my own user profile to hide the street address line. Nothing has changed regarding the visibility of the street address line, it is still visible even though I, as a user, choose to hide the street address.

I am also careful to test the visibility of the profile on the public artist list as a public viewer, not a logged in member user. (see attachments for settings used)

There is one box in my Privacy Fields settings that is empty, it is Default Registration Value. There are no choices available via a drop down menu, and I do not know how to enter value lines. Does this box matter? Should the box be changed to a drop down menu selection box for easier use by administrators? (see attachment)

Thanks,
Kristin

I believe all settings are requesting privacy to hide the line from the public while allowing users/members to see the street address line.

Your default value is incorrectly set. It's only going to use valid combinations. In your case select just the view access level and no other defaults.

You need to edit the users actual profile from CB > User Management and check the privacy of the field. There should be a dropdown right next to it.

No, that has nothing to do with CB Privacy. That's the default registration value for a field. It has no affect on CB Privacy.

Within CB > Configuration > Moderation ensure "Moderators View Access Level" is set correctly. If it's set to "Public" you're giving everyone CB Moderator privileges, which is very dangerous. This should be set to a very high view access level like Special or a custom view access level with only Super Users usergroup selected.
