Nope, it does not support recurring events. Probably be something that can implemented for the rewrite, but the CB 2.x upgrade of GJ will not see any new features as it'll be entirely bug fix and compatibility release.

Cool. Would be great to see that in next release.

While we are at it, having a function that sends out reminders about any event is also not bad.

Have this awesome extension for other kind of events and it lets me send out reminders regarding the events that people have paid for. Would be great to have this in GJ too.

As stated above the upgrade is a compatibility and bug fix release only. It will likely also be the latest release of GJ before its complete rewrite unless another bug fix release is needed. There are no features planned for the upgrade release other than what has already been implemented.
