CB Activity Terminology Questions

What does Activity Status Actions mean? And what is the difference between just Status and Activity Status?

Status activity is activity posted to the stream directly by the user. Only status activity can have an action, a tag, and a location associated with it at this time so all parameters referring to those 3 typically state activity status action, activity status location, etc..

Thanks Kyle, by the way I am asking you this because I am working on the translations of CB Activity and even though I am using the system I am having some difficulties in finding the function of some of the language strings. Here is an example, if you can please clarify the following string:

Input the place for this location.

I am not sure where "place" comes into play. I looked in the backend of CB Activity but don't see a relationship with location.

Here is another one:

Do not display thumbnail

Not sure where this is being used.

If you do not have time to get back to me on this type of questions, that is ok, I'll just skip those translations for now.

You're having issues because you're viewing the raw strings with no context. For example "Input the place for this location." is in the backend when you're editing a status activity entry and adding a location to it or editing its existing location. "Do not display thumbnail" is when you're editing a post with a URL that's shared as it allows you to hide the thumbnail that it finds. It maybe better to just explore each of CB Activities pages so you're viewing the strings within their context.

I delve into all aspects of applications that I translate, otherwise it would indeed be difficult to understand the context. In the case of CB activity I checked the backend, I looked at adding/editing location activity, I just couldn't find it there. I checked again and was able to find it

On another note, the word "location" is causing confusion because the way it is used in the backend.

Location as the main descriptor for prepositions or verbs with prepositions is not accurate. On the top of my head I think "Status" would be a better word. Attached a screenshot of an example:

Based on this example the tooltip would say: "Optionally select a Status for this location."

Again without thinking too much about it, it is definitely better than "location". If I come up with something better I'll send you some additional suggestions.

You're free to translate it to whatever you like. It's named based off its storage and its management view. Example if you navigate to Locations you can add more location relationships.

Location: In
Place: My House
Address: XYZ

If it's changed to Status then it's even more confusing with status activity. Backend is meant for management purposes and I match the management to the storage. The storage in this case is "location", "place", and "address".
