The login module comes with a Joomla 2.x and Joomla 3.x compatible layout. Default is Joomla 2.x and Bootstrap is Joomla 3.x (bootstrap 2). Looks like you're using the Bootstrap layout, but you don't have compatible bootstrap 2 CSS loaded or there's a conflict with the bootstrap 2 styling. You'll need to right click and inspect element on the icons then check their container span to see what its breaking their height.
