Recent Activity shows all activity. Profile activity shows your activity and your connections activity when viewing your self. When viewing another user it shows their activity or activity where they're the target object. There is no changing this behavior.

My Activity will behave the same as profile activity. Meaning it shows your activity and that of your connections. A filtering feature for the stream is planned in a later release so you can filter it down to connections or even a specific connection type.
