Do you mean the Joomla Login menu item? yes, trashed it and then emptied trash. Now instead of going to /login though it goes directly to the Joomla user component like this: /component/users/?view=login
I tried moving the CB plugin higher and no luck. I have no idea what the difference is between the 2 sites or how to make the login default to CB and not Joomla

Visit your Joomla: Extensions → Module Manager page
Unpublish (or delete) all instances of type 'Login'.
If one site goes to the Joomla login, it is published and active.
You might want to have a look at the getting started stuff in the primer again, just look at the first 4 or 5 steps after installation. (disable Joomla login, Disable Users Online, etc.)
