AVI is not supported in HTML5. Its index is at the end. This means it can't stream as it can't seek without the entire video being loaded first (which would massively slow down your site). I suggest h.264 MP4 format for best video playback in browsers. I doubt HTML5 will ever support AVI. If you still want to share AVI files you'll need to add the extension to the File gallery so they can directly download the video.
