Groupjive and Kunena Issues

Groupjive and Kunena Issues was created by mspeights1
Hi,

I'm trying to connect Kunena and Groupjive so that a user can only view topics in the category assigned to the groups that the user has joined. I have gone through the steps to integrate groupjive and kunena. Unfortunately, it's not working. When logged in as a regular user and try to view the forum for a group that the user has joined, I get "You do not have permissions to access this page."

In Category Permissions, I have selected Access Control Type: Community Builder. The list of groupjive groups appears, but I am unable to select any group on the list.

It seems that groupjive and kunena aren't communicating properly. I tried to uninstall and reinstall kunena 4.0.5 but that hasn't changed anything. I still can't select which GroupJive group can view a particular forum category.

You don't need to select any access permissions. GJ handles that entirely on its own. the only category you need to manually create is the top level forum category. It's the category all of GJs forums will go inside of. Once created you need to select it within GJ > Configuration > Integrations > Forum in the "Category" parameter. Now when you create a Category or Group in GJ it should automatically create the forums for it. This won't work unless Kunena is already integrated with CB though and do that you need to enable the Community Builder plugin within Kunena > Plug-in Manager.

Thanks! I realized the problem. I was expecting the integration to work for pre-existing groups, but it's only set up for new groups.

Now I have another odd issue. I don't want the "Forum" tab to show up in Groupjive groups. However, I am now unable to change the Forum tab settings. This wasn't an issue before so I assume it has something to do with Kunena and Groupjive integration. Can I either get rid of this tab or make this tab a link to the kunena forum page for each particular group?

For pre-existing groups you need to re-save them or try using GJ > Tools to see if it can fix them.

You mean the parameter to show/hide the tab isn't working? Try editing the group in frontend as the backend parameter could be bugged. Please note in the rewrite (GJ 3.0) you will not be able to turn tabs off without turning off their entire functionality.
