Hello CB, hopefully two relatively quick and easy questions.

Firstly, said I'd ask, as maybe you guys or community members came across this before and have a solution - if I wanted to have alternative joomla right position modules on different profiles, i.e. lets focus on registered regular users. The only menu assignment is CB Profile. This right positioned (on joomla) module is visible on all registered regular users profiles, access is registered.

To split this up, I have tried a custom view access level. Maybe I'm on the right track but did it incorrectly. Is that the only solution?..Registered has 2 sub groups RU1 RU2. Need a different joomla right module for each. Maybe the possibility of a different joomla custom html module for each regular registered user at its most extreme. Any suggestions/ideas to best achieve it.

Second, CB search bot plugin is great. I have it searching profiles and specific fields. They display on a separate hidden menu article page. Anyway, in the TEXT under Results Tab of the plugin I have substituted in the field [CB_field] but it displays all the field values of this tab instead of just the search term that was found. Is there a way to just have my custom text and just the relevant and specific searched term in the results? The searched term does highlight. Assume it's a specific substitution that I need.

Kind regards

You could limit the modules by view access level instead of by menu. This eliminates the issue of having to have 2 menu items to CB based off view access level. To have modules displayed to registered users except the only different being menu item then normal menu assignment for the module should work fine, but CB will always use the first Itemid it finds.

Nope, there's no substitution for the search text.

Ok thanks.

Custom view access levels don't seem to work for me, as in, I do it right and they don't work the way I want them to, doesn't seem to recognise them, only work when I include public and then that's pretty much a catch all so makes the custom view access level pointless.

Nevertheless they are the solution so I will drive on. I want to seperate for advertising revenue purposes, would be a lost opportunity if a right module had to be on all profiles. I need to delete all users anyway and re-register all the Admin, Moderators, Managers etc and test accounts so maybe it will sort itself out then.

Kind regards

Sorted. I needed to tidy up my usergroups and view access levels as I added a few recently. They were a mess to be fair.

I added view access levels like e.g. User Group 1 only and User Group 1 & Public, Special & Registered..etc

The big differentiation was between public and registered. If set to Guest, a module will be public and not viewable to registered. Can then put in a module for all registered or a specific registered sub group. Additionally, can let Registered or Registered & Public view a module but hide from Admin/Mod.

Nice - back in control!

About the search. If you don't mind do you have any suggestions for any 3rd party extensions that would be capable of searching only specific tabs in CB, the tabs would all be related. The fields for these tabs are editor text areas where for example, each tab would be a different subject area. e.g. maths, science etc and courses listed under the tabs, from within the field, bullet pointed or whatever with links.

Then to be able to list the results in a custom way. The field values are put into a database in CB right?. So I'm guessing with my limited knowledge that these should be searchable - and done the right way the info can be drawn out.

Cb search bot seems excellent for including profiles, joomla search doesn't seem to cut it.

There's no other extension that has CB searching that I'm aware of. The CB Search Bot just extends Joomlas searching to allow profiles to be searched. What fields CB Search Bot searches is up to you though and can be changed by editing CB Search Bot within Extensions > Plugin Manager. You can also change what the search results display as well in CB Search Bots parameters, but it's limited as to what Joomla search results will display.

Another option could be to just use a CB Userlist. You can have a highly customized display using the different column sizes and as many columns as you want. You can format information using a Custom HTML field and have that display on your userlist, etc..
