Are different notifications by group possible? ie in one group, I want to set the notifications this way and for another group I want to set it another way?
I know that it currently does not work (or at least this is what my tests show) but will it be possible in the new ones?
This setting is not that important but would be cool to have it
For the defaults? No. Notifications are group by group based already though. There will not be group by group defaults, sorry. The aim of the rewrite is to make GJ easier to use. Adding dozens upon dozens of extra parameters would counter that idea.

I was anyway thinking of a different build-up. For the moment, the notification panel is simply by user (for all GJ groups). How about setting the notification panel per user AND per group (so the general notification would be still linked to user as well as the category, while the group notification could be changed by group.) Anyway, it was just an idea, although I understand that this may affect performance.
The notifications page has been redesigned to be less confusing in the rewrite. Below is what it looks like now.
There are no plans to implement global notifications, sorry. That would just confuse the enduser and result in double the processing.
