I am building a Website for a veterans organization. Some registration data requires multiple check boxes; some of those permit multiple selections; some are restricted (or should be) to a single selection.
How can I set a field type to display multiple check boxes but limit users to select only one of the check boxes displayed?
Use a radio field. It does exactly what you're wanting. Checkboxes are meant to have multiple selection. Please do not use checkboxes with radio behavior as that's just confusing for the enduser and bad UX as users expect multiple checkboxes to behave like multiple checkboxes.
