[SOLVED] Joomla 3.4.4 CB 2.0.10 - "Session expired or cookies are not enabled in your browser." Issues after switching on anti-spoofing sessions checks

9 years 1 month ago - 9 years 1 month ago #270578 by joebrickley
Hello,
I switched on anti-spoofing sessions checks in the CB - configuration page earlier, and then I am instantly getting "Session expired or cookies are not enabled in your browser." errors opening CB pages in the backend and I am now unable to access the CB Configuration page, it just reverts to the control panel.

All I want to do is get back in to the configuration page to switch off the anti-spoofing sessions checks option.

How can I do this please ?
Thanks
Joe

Do you have one of those EU Cookie compliant plugins installed? If so please disable it. Something is breaking your sites cookies or Joomla session causing the spoof checking to always fail.

Hi Krileon,
I did have a EU Cookie compliant plugin installed, not not enabled. I have now uninstalled but I still have the issue. It looks like the only effect is no access to CB configuration page, everything else seems to work fine.

Any other ideas what might be causing it ?

Is there anyway to change this setting, e.g. via files on the server, or can it only be changed via the configuration panel in the joomla backend ?

Thanks
Joe

Enable debug mode and maximum error reporting in Joomla global configuration then retry to see if any other errors are present. If none check server error log for any fatal errors. If none go through any installed 3rd party Joomla system plugins and disable them 1 by 1. If still not resolved disable all non-core CB plugins 1 by 1.

The configuration settings are stored in the params column of the CB Core plugin in _comprofiler_plugins as a JSON string.

Thank you, that was the answer I needed !

The configuration settings are stored in the params column of the CB Core plugin in _comprofiler_plugins as a JSON string.

updating the database entry from "enableSpoofCheck":"1" to "0" switched it off and allowed me back into the CB configuration settings.

I also went through all the plug-ins and extensions as suggested and found that the joobi jnews plug-in seems to be breaking the sites cookies or sessions / conflicting with the CB enable spoof check tool so will look more into that..

cheers
Joe
