My website has two different templates (one full page banner, the other a small banner)
once people have logged on the smal banner template will be used
If I use the CB Blogs and put the settings on internal, and click the freshly created blog post, the small banner template is used
CB Blogs internal model displays the blog entries from CB Blogs own database from its own component plugin page. Your layouts will have no affect on it as it doesn't have layouts and uses CB Blogs template for the display. When using Joomla model the display is entirely dependent on Joomla.
If you're talking about Joomla template menu item assignment then they're 2 completely different URLs and you'll need to create a Joomla menu item to CB Blogs plugin from Community Builder > Plugin menutype to assign a template to it.
