[SOLVED] upgrade woes was created by tmoran
Hi,

I tried upgrading to CB 2.1.11 (from 1.9.1) and everything CB has fallen over! I was running Joomla 3.2.1 and have since upgraded to 3.4.4, however when I now try to upload the CB 2.1.11 package I get the following error:

Strict Standards: Non-static method cbgjClass::getPlugins() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context in <span>/</span>home<span>/</span>arc/public_html/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbgroupjive/cbgroupjive.class.php on line 4

Fatal error: Cannot access private property cbPluginHandler::$_pluginGroups in <span>/</span>home<span>/</span>arc/public_html/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbgroupjive/cbgroupjive.class.php on line 3668

CB has completely disappeared in Joomla admin and I can't acces Kunena forums either!

Fatal Error: Cannot access private property cbPluginHandler::$_pluginGroups in components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbgroupjive/cbgroupjive.class.php on line 3668

The error was detected in the Comprofiler Component.

I'm hoping to solve this issue without losing anything, as my backup also failed!!!

Looks like CB GroupJive is out of date. There's nothing on line 3668 of that file in GJ 2.7. I've no idea why CB would be gone from backend other than your migration failed. Debug mode and maximum error reporting should be enabled, then install CB 2.x, and see if any error occurred. However, without a backup to restore to you won't be able to migrate and probably will have some configuration loss.

Please folks stop straight upgrading live sites. Clone your site, make a backup of the clone, then upgrade. This will give you an idea of what to expect and prepare you for the live site upgrade. Do not just take backups with something like Akeeba Backup. Do a host backup which will backup your entire file and database structure as is.

Thanks Kyle,

I remove the plug_cbgroupjive folder and successfully upgraded (it was a server timeout issue during migration). Fortunately nothing has been lost!

I've always said backup, backup, backup
Now I'm saying check backup, check backup, check backup,
