Is there a way to get a confirmation page once that URL is hit?

You'll need a second action acting on autoactions_onAction with a condition of [var1_id] Equal To REGISTRATION_ACTION_ID_HERE. You can then use a Code action to output HTML or a Redirect action to redirect away.

Is there a way to output html or forward to a result page based on whether the registration was successful or not?

Nope, the second action has no access to that information.

Ok. Is there a second independent action that I can trigger to check if an account was created (based on username), exists, when it was registered etc.

So basically looks up the username and brings back variables like registration date/time on an html page?

You could use a Code action and handle the entire registration process and response from a single action if you wanted, but you'll need to know how to use CBs API to register a user. To do that review the below API.
