Forgive me if I am blind (not sarcasm)...but I don't see where I can configure notifications to the admin that a Group needs approval.
In GJ plugin I tried both Email & PMS but I didn't get an email. (I did not test if I received a PM, just an email).

Where do I look?
My admin user is set to receive moderator emails (Receive Moderator Emails=Yes) but no luck.
Any hints?

Hmm, just tested and it seems like a bug.
I opened a ticket here:
forge.joomlapolis.com/issues/5622

In the meantime you can manually check from backend GroupJive -> Groups and search for groups that are not approved.

Some more comments on this:

I see the group in the admin backend. I enabled it (approved it). No notification sent to group creator (should this happen?).

Also, logged in as that user to frontend and went to the menu item I have created that is supposed to display the Groups that I have joined (index.php?option=com_comprofiler&view=pluginclass&plugin=cbgroupjive&action=joinedgroups&Itemid=1194&lang=en).

It shows the button NEW GROUP and says: There are no groups available.

Going manually inside that Group shows clearly 1 User. In the Users tab I see myself as the owner. Yet the Joined Groups menu did not report correctly.

Good question - I would think yes it should.

Also, logged in as that user to frontend and went to the menu item I have created that is supposed to display the Groups that I have joined (index.php?option=com_comprofiler&view=pluginclass&plugin=cbgroupjive&action=joinedgroups&Itemid=1194&lang=en).

I am thinking that being an owner of a group is not the same as joining a group.
CHeck if this group appears in a My group menu list (I would think yes).

P.S. I have linked this thread to the ticket, so all comments will be available for developers to read.

Backend does not send notifications. You need to approve, etc.. from frontend if you want notifications to send. So ensure all approval, etc.. is done from frontend.

Next for moderators to receive notifications they need to be within the moderator view access level configured in CB > Configuration > Moderation. They also need to be set to receive moderator emails. Note there is no PM notification functionality in CB. It will always be an email. So you won't receive a PM, but you should receive an email.
