Hi,

Just wondering - I use K2 and it seems to integrate quite well with CB. I have a question re profiles and commenting, I want logged in CB users to be able to comment on a K2 item and have their avatar and profile show up in the comment. Is there any way to do this?

Otherwise, if they want to comment they'll have to either log out and log back in via Disqus, then logout and log back in to CB - quite an annoying process.

Any suggestions to make this work?

I think this question should be addressed to the K2 team.

I would think that there commenting system should also support avatar display and linking from CB.

I don't think that's how Disqus usage works. You have to login to Disqus with your Disqus account. It's not linked to CB, K2, or Joomla at all. You should not have to log out of CB at all, but just login to Disqus. It's similar to using Facebook commenting for example where it requires you to login with your Facebook account.

Hi Nick/Kyle,

Thanks for your responses.

Nick: Can't see K2 working in a way to sync with Disqus. I guess one of the problems with K2's business model is that, being a free product and having an almost monopoly on Joomla CCKs, there's no need for them to improve or update their core product regularly. Editing from a tablet or phone is near impossible in K2, but can't see them fixing this anytime soon.

Kyle: I get how it works, it's just annoying for already logged in K2/CB users to have to log in again (or create a new separate profile) for a separate system after they've already logged in to CB. AFAIK, Disqus is the default commenting system for most templates using K2 - so would be good to have the two interoperate.

You would need single sign-on the Disqus like how CB Connect has single sign-on with Facebook for example. There's no other way to do it and even then it'd require them to login to your site with their Disqus credentials instead of CB credentials. They're two entirely different systems. If you want to avoid doing any of that then use a Joomla commenting extension instead (e.g. jComments).
