Groupjive Group link returning a "server error 500"

8 years 10 months ago #275015 by Strategisto2da
Hi,

Can you figure out what's going on here? When I try to click on a group in a profile i get a "server error 500" message and this detail:

The website encountered an error while retrieving 110115build.cloudaccess.host/groupjive/pluginclass.html?plugin=cbgroupjive&action=groups&func=show&id=6 . It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

Yesterday, my host "Cloudaccess" had a server go down and they had to migrate my site over to a new server. It was working fine before that. Cloudaccess is saying that it is an issue with the extension.

Thanks

Turn on joomla debug and see if more useful info pops up.

If not please check your server error logs.

Thanks Nant...

Cloudaccess had turned on a PHP script. It's now working.

So the statement they made before:

It was working fine before that. Cloudaccess is saying that it is an issue with the extension.

was false and misleading?

Nant,

Not trying to start a conflict here. Sometimes I feel like a ping-pong ball being swatted back and forth by different tech supports.

This is exactly what Cloudaccess said:

"Can you please provide us with the exact steps taken to replicate the issue? We would need a username/login combination and detailed information on how to access the GroupJive portion of the site and how to create the error. We don't offer support for third party extensions, but if we can reproduce the 500 error we might be able to provide you with additional information on what caused the error so it can be passed on to the developer of the extension."

And this is how they fixed it:

"Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I switched php version to 5.4 and it started working. Please check for the same."

And as I said the site is working now.

I don't think it was anybody's intent to characterize anything as false or misleading. If anybody is at fault it may be me and my "layman" understanding of the technology.

I do appreciate your support.

Thanks.

Mike Smock

Di you know what PHP version your old environment was using?

And what they switched from in the new one?
