[SOLVED] GroupJive 3.0.1 install error was created by vptechnology
Joomla 3.4.7
CB 2.0.12

Attempting to upgrade GJ 2.7.0 by installing the GJ 3.0.1 plugin

the install aborts with an error message:
Duplicate entry '7339-9-1' for key 'user_id_group_status' SQL=ALTER TABLE `j25_groupjive_users` ADD UNIQUE KEY `user_id_group_status` (`user_id`, `group`, `status`)

Any ideas?

I have gone to the CB Tools menu and looked at the Check CB User Fields Database

there were a few errors on field types: attempting to fix comeplets for several but fails as follows:

BLOB/TEXT column 'fc_userid' used in key specification without a key length SQL=ALTER TABLE `j25_comprofiler` CHANGE `fc_userid` `fc_userid` text

Yup, this happened to me on one of my sites.

I had to manually remove duplicate entries from the groupjive users table using phpmyadmin.

Just search the table based on the error message you are seeing and remove dupliate entries.

In your case you should find 2 (or more) rows with the same user_id, group, status settings. Just remove all but the first one and then try to install again.

You might then have a different (but similar) message that should trigger another manual deletion.

Keep doing this until upgrade succeeds.

That worked, Thanks!
I was able to remove the duplicates (3 identical entries for the same user_id)
(I try to avoid direct database edits much of the time as there are often secondary things which get done in code, but get missed in direct edit)


This enabled the instalation of the 3.0.1 plugin to complete...

And now... strangely enough... the group display is NOW displaying the description of the group nor any of the tabs for things like About, Files, Events, etc.... - it only displays the profile images of the group members.



additionally (although not related to GJ) I am still getting the following error when attempting to fix the error reported in Check CB User Fields Database

ummm.... wow

so - with the completion of the 3.0.1 GJ install -- I can no longer edit anything outside of CB. If I click to edit an article, it locked the article but returns to the article list screen. Same thing when attempting to edit a module or Joomla Plugin. What the heck is going on?

GJ can't do anything outside of it self. GJ has nothing to do with your article access of even your BLOB/TEXT error. You've something else going on causing problems.

The description database column was untouched and you maybe having issues understanding its new display, which is an info icon in the bottom right of the canvas display.

The integrations for GJ also need to be installed, published, and public within CB > Plugin Management. Their tabs then should show up fine if they have content and/or you have access to add content to them. Each group can individually disable those features though, but CB Moderators, group owner, and group admins can still utilize them.

Your BLOB/TEXT issue is due to a field created by a plugin that created an index in the database, but the plugin was uninstalled. To resolve that you need to delete that field (appears to be "fc_userid" based on the above error) in CB > Field Management then run tools again.
