Admin menu gone after upgrading CB was created by emanuelr
I recently started to upgrade my 2.5 site to 3.x. A complicated task...
I had to un-publish many plugins directly in the database.

Once I managed to access the backend, I upgraded CB from 1.9 to the current version (I believe it was 2.0.10 at that time). After disabling some plugins (again - directly in the DB), it worked fine.
Then, I upgraded GJ. Most of it worked fine.

I left it for a few weeks - then the next time I tried to login the backend - the admin menu disappeared and I redirected automatically to a summary page of CB, with an upgrading message and link.
Trying to click the upgrading link took me to the extensions update page, but with no command buttons (UPDATE, CANCEL etc.).

Since the entire upgrade is going on my local machine and I'm sure nothing was change in the environment, I don't know where to start...
I un-published everything I could find regarding GJ (in the DB), but with no effect.

Of course, since this is a local process, I can't provide a link, so I'm attaching the two screens I mentioned.

By the way, the CB and GJ menus work fine...

Joomlas admin menu is not controlled by CB. I'm guessing the Admin Menu module was unpublished somehow. Use the below URL to reach Extensions > Modules.

index.php?option=com_modules

Next filter it from Site to Administrator a publish the Admin Menu module.

Thanks for trying to help.

The module was published (actually I checked before after following and older post in this forum).

After turning the DEBUG mode on (directly in the configuration file) and going over the queries, I found that while querying the modules table, the access level limitation was set to Registered users instead of SuperUser.

I have no idea how that was happen.

I had to go into the #__user_usergroup_map table (in phpMyAdmin), find the rows related to my id, then change the usergroup_id from 2 to 8.

Now I got access again and could fix everything inside the back-end interface.

I wrote this solution in details since I found many topics of the same problem in many other forums.

Thanks again!

This happened immediately after installing CB? or after upgrading Joomla? No idea how that could happen, sorry. We don't touch usergroups on install for users.

It happened immediately after installing GroupJive in it's Betta version...
I checked randomly other users and couldn't find any one which it's privileges were changed. Just mine, the Admin...

Any way, as I said, after updating the database manually it is fine and I managed to update everything to the stable versions.

One point to think about: why I was able to see at the administrator side the CB+GJ menu and other CB modules from the beginning if I was "Just" a registered member at that time...

Not sure why you installed the Beta. Stable and Stable Nightly releases have been available for a long time now. There's absolutely no code in it that could do this either. Not sure what to make of this, sorry.

If you were still logged in then your session is still a Super Users session.
