Userlist with cb gallery content

Can I make a userlist or something similiar with the cb gallery images?

I want to make it possible to the user to search all the latest uploaded images on the community.

No, you can't search CB Gallery from a userlist. You would need to develop a new fieldtype plugin with custom searching behavior to search gallery entries. CB Gallery is for profile galleries. It has no global gallery functionality so you can not view a list or page of every users gallery entries. There are no plans for such functionality at this time.

CB Gallery is user galleries. Joomlagallery is a Joomla (site) gallery. They're 2 completely different usages with 2 completely different design goals. Global pages maybe implemented in a later release, but it's very low on the priority list.

Ok then but my own proffesional opinion about the matter. Is that You should consider to make it a bigger priority. Because if you can use uploaded images from a user and make it on a official list you have a powerful tool to interact with other users around the community.

You can already do it with articles and cb blog content.

You can have lists like: newly uploaded videos, most viewed content, if you at the same time fix a comment and rating field to the cb gallery content you can make most commented content, and the best rated list. And even filter it with day, week, month and so on.

The users can find a bigger audience for the uploaded content, get more visitors to their gallery and profile, and they feel more motivated to upload content.

I can just see benefits with a function like that and can not think about any cb gallery function that should have a bigger priority. BUT it is just my own opinion as a cb customer

If there are a 100 people parsed for galleries then that's 100 individual access permission checks. I have to check if the tab can even be accessed before displaying entries from that users gallery. This can't be done through SQL so it has to be done through PHP only (e.g. protected by CB Privacy). This is extremely slow and heavy.

CB is about providing profiles and a community of profiles then the interactions between them. I never set out to make a gallery that functions globally. There's several, very well made, extensions that do this already. As for getting people to users profiles and galleries that's the entire purpose of CB Activity.

There are several design issues to consider when even implementing this. For example how to handle Albums/Folders; what if 10 users have Albums/Folders with the same title? Merge them? Display them each so there's duplicates? There's A LOT to consider. In addition to this new library API is needed to handle the permissions so they can be extended by other plugins to be better optimized query based checks.

With that said global pages are planned, but for much later release and is low priority as CB Gallery accomplishes already the goal it was designed for.
