Can user add self to list?

I'm wondering if there is a way for users to add/delete themselves to/from a list on the front end?

Create a list that is filtered off a CB field (e.g., CB Opt-in checkbox field).
This way people that click the checkbox field in their profile will automatically be included in the list.
