Probably for CBSubs Mailer in a future release, but aside from that no. We're not a newsletter extension. You can integrate CB with AcyMailing for example if you need unsubscribe features. Once CB Notifications plugin is developed it should have such a functionality as its purpose is to handle scheduling, batching, and sending of various notifications (email, PM, or on-site), but that won't be for awhile.

If you're using CB Auto Actions to send emails you can add a checkbox field for example to a users profile to let them unsubscribe then condition for that field in your auto action.

Hi Kyle and thank you for your reply.

Sadly, You can't integrate CB with AcyMailing as they explain here:

www.acyba.com/forum/4-general-talk-about-acymailing/71171-community-builder-override-mailing-system.html

Is there a way to globally turn off the Community Builder email notifications?

Sadly, You can't integrate CB with AcyMailing as they explain here:

That's entirely wrong. We have a CB trigger that fires during mailer construction. The entire mailer can be overridden with a custom integration entirely. Meaning a CB plugin can replace CBs mailer entirely. As long as it's CB PHP mailer compatible it'll work or at least uses similar functions to prevent errors. The following triggers are available.

onBeforeCreateMailer
onAfterCreateMailer
onBeforeSendMail
onAfterSendMail

onBeforeCreateMailer sends the CBPHPMailer object by reference as $mail. In the CB plugin you'd have a class that extends CBPHPMailer and overrides its functionality with your own. Your plugin would then act on that trigger and replace the $mail object with your own built from your custom class that extends CBPHPMailer. You now have taken over CBs mailer with your own.

The reason we don't allow you to easily override it with any API you want is because we want you to extend CBPHPMailer. There is an expectation in CB when using the mailer API that certain functions and/or variables will be there. If we let you replace the mailer with any random object then several plugins would fail, because variables or functions it's looking for in the mailer don't exist.

Is there a way to globally turn off the Community Builder email notifications?

No, not without turning off Joomlas which we check for.

Thank you Kyle as your detailed reply helps me a lot

Am I right in understanding that if I set the Joomla Global Configuration - Server - Mail Settings - Send Mail to 'No' that this will also stop all CB emails?

Oh dear, my scammer reports and Kunena reports also stopped!

What can I do just to stop CB emails?
