LOL - no the gift is not a fake - it is just not yet compatible with CB 2.0.
It should work on CB 1.9.1.
I have manually sent you the recently upgraded CB 2.0 compatble birthday module gift.
Please check your email for it - it is a Joomla module not a CB plugin.
I have also updated the CBSubs mailer so future such gifts will be CB 2.0 compatible (thanks for heads-up).
Regarding renewing your template subscription, there are no design changes in the new version, so if you were not happy with the design there is no reason to renew.
Finally, regarding the essense of your question: "Is that a Fake" ... please give us the benefit of the doubt, we are many things but we are far from dishonest.
