In setting up a CB site do you have any recommendations for adding a Helpdesk or Support Ticket system? Is there a dedicated CB plugin that would serve that purpose? Thanks.
We don't have a helpdesk plugin. One is planned, but no idea when. I recommend checking Joomla.org extension directory as there's a few such extensions available.

I'm trying out the Akeeba Ticket System now. I like it very much. But one thing that concerns me is that it doesn't seem to integrate with CB avatars. Do you know of a plugin that might help this?
