Upgrades, Upgrades, Upgrades... was created by mikerotec
Currently running CB1.9.1 on J3.4.8 on PHP5.6.19

If I understand correctly, it's very important to upgrade to latest CB "before" upgrading to Joomla 3.5?? Or is it best to upgrade 3.5 (& other extensions) first???

Have been planning to upgrade CB/CBsubs for ages, just haven't had time to test.

Need to know best practice, now that new Joomla minor version is out, and seems there are corresponding 'PHP7-ready' extension updates every day. Was planning to move whole thing to PHP7 environment, after CB upgrade is finally done. But so much testing still to do for that (8 other non-Joomla run sites on the same server)...

You should upgrade CB first, but CB 1.x to CB 2.x is not just an upgrade. It's a migration. We migrate as much as possible during install, but you should expect issues. I highly recommend making a backup of your site, cloning your site, make a backup for the clone, then migrate the clone to CB 2.x. This will give you an idea of what to expect on your live site.
