I would like to set the language parameter automatically during registration. As it is now, users must select this in their profile after registration under the Contact Info tab. I would like to auto-assign it based on the language of the page by which they submit their registration. Which table/field do I write to and what is the syntax of the command I would use. Would I use an Auto Action for this? Create a field during registration for the user to choose?

That's a bit tricky. It's stored in _users in the params column as a json encoded string. You'd likely need to use Joomla user object API in a Code action on the after registration trigger to change it then store the user object.

You could also try letting the field display on registration, but hide it with CSS. Then in a Code action alter the POST data to set the language value just before registration is processed to force its value to change. Example of this is shown below using the email field.

OK--I found a different approach.

CB Field "params" (_UE_USERPARAMS) I set to show and be required at registration. That will work for our purposes.
