Hello, we are working on health and wellness site using Joomla and Community builder. I have set up the users section and the profile the way that I want it.
But here is what I want to know. We have an idea where we want to charge doctors to have a place on the site. So what I want to do is have a separate set of profiles for just them. Can that be done in CB or could we set up profiles using CB subs that are separate from regular users?

Best way to do this is create a field to select a users profiletype. Then condition fields/tabs to show/hide based off the profiletype field using CB Conditional. Then to have a cost associated with it you'd need to use CBSubs which your plans would only display if the doctor profiletype is selected using conditions on your plan.
