Support for Package Builder

Support for Package Builder was created by stewart9643
I am seeking support for the package builder. I can't find any documentation and nothing in the forum. Is there somewhere in particular I should be looking?

Regards
Stewart

It has no documentation. What do you need to know? Our demosite has a full backend demo showing how to setup packages as well.

Note package builder is a drop-in solution. You create a package, define its path to a file, then add the file at the path you supplied. For versioned files you can use * in the filename. Example as follows.

myfile-*.zip

This means anything between myfile- and .zip is counted as version. Versions should always be semver compatible. Do not try to make up your own version format and expect it to parse (it probably won't). Examples as follows.

myfile-1.0.0.zip
myfile-1.0.0+build.123.zip
myfile-2.0.0.beta.1.zip

The map cannot be displayed, you haven't specified a location yet.
I assume I may have to use the language strings for some. Just to clarify my use of this product, it will be to download forms, documents (PDF etc), media files.

The Download section displays Joomla Packages. The option to change that to eg Download Section, download files, document library etc etc.

In the dropdown where we select package, component etc can we add other options that are not joomla related such as document, form etc. I can than use the sub type to break it down further. Not that it effects me, but what if I wanted to have files for wordpress as an example. How would I add that to the CMS listing?

Trying to work out difference between a package and a preset. Is a preset a prepared parcel of several packages?

Then your packages should all be of type Custom. This is where you can define your own package types (e.g. Documents, Files, whatever you like). Custom types do not build into a Joomla installer. If all you have is custom types you should not see checkboxes or a download package button.

Preset is just a bundle of packages. That won't have any relevance for your usage as you can't bundle custom types (planned to support this at some point with additional packaging options).
