Kyle, I agree that no-one would want hundreds of emails - but what I'm suggesting is simply a way to get notified when someone comments on your post. This could be via an auto action that simply sends a message or email to the user. I can't see that anyone will get hundreds of email notifications unless they're spamming the feed like crazy, or unless their post went viral (can't see how this can happen without the ability to share posts in any case).

LinkedIn sends emails when someone comments on your post, and Facebook also allows this. To me it seems that push notifications are for apps - email notifications are for websites. To me it makes total sense to have email notifications for the CB feed. Ello does this as well, and it seems like their community is flourishing. Sure, they have an app now - but it took them a long time to get to that stage and in the meantime, they allowed email notifications.

One of the big advantages of CB, and one that is strongly advertised, is the customisability of the platform, and especially the Auto Actions feature. The lack of an Auto Action that allows notifications on posts is something that urgently needs to be fixed in the CB platform.

In a former post, you mentioned to me once that I wouldn't want to get email notifications when someone logs into the site. Well, as the owner of a new and incipient CB community, this is a great way to see if users are actually using the system and when a community getting started, this is a very useful feature for site owners/admins. The more incentives you can create for users to log in and make use of the system, the more they'll do so. This is why emails to users are such a great idea and why so many social networks do this - including well established Apps like Instagram and Facebook.

Please reconsider.

There's nothing to reconsider. It's going to be implemented with 4.0.0 once I've rewritten the API and improved likely all of the triggers with better variables. My timeline however is not going to change as it's a fixed timeline. CB 2.1 should be releasing next month and I'm not just going to stop near the end of its development to work on CB Activity, sorry. GJ 3.0.2 is already almost done and will be finished and released after CB 2.1 and then I'll be working on CB Activity 4.0.0.
