How can I get the Activity plugin to show a name rather than [user_linked] as below?
Primrose and [user_linked] are now connected

The Formatted Name field is published and shown on Profiles on a Public tab (Portrait) as I read bout this in another post

That's an old activity entry. Newer activity entries should be logging and displaying fine. You can fix that by manually editing it in backend and changing [user_linked] to @USER_ID (or @USERNAME) where USER_ID would be the user id of the user they connected to.

I have now noticed that since upgrading the plugin to 3.0.1 no new activity is being logged in the database table wxo_comprofiler_plugin_activity

Any thoughts?

CB Activity doesn't log activity at all. It just displays it and handles status posts. Logging of activity is done by the system actions in CB Auto Actions.

It used to do that something like a year ago. Latest builds don't log activity. CB Auto Actions bridges the various plugins and usages to CB Activity now instead of hardcoding all of the usages in CB Activity. GJ and CB Gallery also both process their activity for access permissions and display. Core activity will be processed for display in CB Activity 4.0.0, but for now those entries are just stored as is.
