Hello,

I'm trying to implement a search by which my website users can search over the contents of multiple CB fields at once.

I thought about having a new field and have it containt [cb_field1] [cb_field2] [cb_field3]. However, when I create a field using CB substitution, I can no longer make this field searchable in the CB list manager :(

Do you have any advise on how to make such field searchable in list manager? Or is there another way altogether by which to allow users to search over the contents of three cb fields? Without having three separate search fields in the search mask of that list?

Thank you!

There's no functionality for a single field to search multiple fields. The only way to do that is use CB Search Bot and use Joomlas search functionality. We've a feature ticket already to look into a way to have a single input search mode for userlists.

OK. Thank you, Krileon. Could you point out for me how to use CB Search Bot for that? Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thank you again!

Install CB Search Bot then navigate to Extensions > Plugins and edit it. From there you can specify what fields it should be searching and can ensure it's public and published at the same time. Once done use a normal Joomla search module (not smart search) to search the fields you specified for matching users.
