it would be great if there was an auto-recognise of links that are posted on CB Activity so that users do not have to use the LINK button.
It already makes links automatically clickable. It's not going to convert those to attachments though. It's 2 separate features specifically to allow the most flexibility as it can be frustrating to share a link and it attach when you don't want it to. I'll look into adding this as a parameter for the links functionality.

_Secondly, it would be great if CB Activity (LINK USAGE) did not display the first available picture it encounters but the first picture with a certain size that it encounters. It currently blows up a teeny tiny facebook picture to tremendous proportions, while there are loads of awesome and big pictures on the same page. Or can you set it somewhere that it should not take pictures below x px/y px?
That's up to the site. It's not going to size the images as that'd add a ton of extra processing to attached links. A site with good metadata should specify the page image in the metadata, which it will use before finding the first image in the DOM. You can disable the thumbnail by editing your activity and checking the checkbox for that link though. Ideally for thumbnails for URL links I'd like for you to be able to edit the activity and select 1 of 10 thumbnails parsed so you don't have to use the first one it finds and am looking into implementing this already.
