All I really need to do is make a "user", and "home" page, for now. I've read the CB pdf. Are there pages missing? It seems to skip way beyond that section, and not come back to it. What am I missing? I'm not sure I know how to do anything with my site now. I just need to finish this project.
Is it possible to just write my own code and put it somewhere? I went from feeling pretty confident, to totally lost.
Depends on what you mean by "user" and "home" page. Your home page is just whatever Joomla menu item you mark as home. That could be an article, the profile page, the registration page, whatever you like and is not covered in the documentation as it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with CB. Your user page would just be the profile, which is accessed using the profile menu item and is covered in the documentation. Additionally we've the below videos for CB 2.x.
