[SOLVED] GroupJive questions was created by dbeezley
I had previously asked about a "membership strategy" and have decided to move forward with using GroupJive. I have created Categories and Groups. Since the initial Group membership is pre-determined by the "family" group of the individuals, I have begun assigning member profiles to the groups. While it is true that primary group membership is predetermined, I'm beginning to see the value in someone being able to join up with a group other than their primary family group. The Status options are Active, Moderator, Administrator, Owner (plus Pending and Banned). Can status designations be added or renamed?

What happens if a group is renamed? Is there a system name that keeps the identity constant if the name is changed?

One of the great things I see about the group is the ability to maintain files, photos, documents that can be common to the work of the group. What happens if a group as it is originally formed changes, not just in name? For example, a group serves a purpose, completes a task... can it end or appear as an inactive group with visible content? Is there such a thing as a group beginning and end?

I don't see a problem with a group splitting off... it would just be a matter of creating a new group and redefining the purpose or scope of each. What about the possibility of groups merging? That would be an important function of the groups in my project. I suppose one could form a new group, redefined. That would take it back to the previous question about ending the previous groups. Would the new group have access to the "stuff" with the old groups?

I see something about integration with GJ and forum (Kunena). How does that work? Do GJ groups have corresponding sections of a forum? Is there something automated about that or am I confusing some other sort of integration?

Can status designations be added or renamed?

Renamed, yes as they're just language strings. Added/Removed, no. You can use CBs language override functionality shown below to rename them.

www.joomlapolis.com/blog/kyle/18701-language-overrides-have-arrived

What happens if a group is renamed? Is there a system name that keeps the identity constant if the name is changed?

The groups name has no impact on the functionality of the group. You can rename them as often as you like. Their functionality is all tied to their unique id.

What happens if a group as it is originally formed changes, not just in name?

You can change whatever you like about the group without negative impact.

can it end or appear as an inactive group with visible content? Is there such a thing as a group beginning and end?

At this time you can't make a group inactive. I guess you could make it approval and just not approve join requests anymore. A new group type of Closed is planned which would be public access, but no more new content can be created and no one can join it. That won't be implemented for awhile though as am working through releases of other plugins right now.

What about the possibility of groups merging?

There is no group merge functionality and no plans for such functionality.

I see something about integration with GJ and forum (Kunena). How does that work? Do GJ groups have corresponding sections of a forum? Is there something automated about that or am I confusing some other sort of integration?

Each group would have a private forum that only active group members could access. It's automated once initial configuration is done. See the below video on how to configure this.

I'm ready to rename the status designations and I have looked at your link. I've gone to "Community Builder: Edit Plugin [Default language (English)], Override tab. I see the space for "Key" and "Text" but don't understand what to do there. I'm guessing that the "Key" has to be some specific item but I don't know how to find it. I tried the search box (Find) but it appears it requires specific words to find. I did a search for "groupjive" and I see 34 items but I don't know which of these (if any) is what I need. Can you help me with more specific instructions? If I can figure out one change in the User Status I can do others. Specifically, I'd like to change "Moderator" to "Primary".

As I understand it, even if I change the names, the status will still be functionally the same. That is to say, the "Banned" status will still block the user no matter what I call it. I'm guessing the "Pending" status will be functionally no different than having only public access to the group. So, I can rename "Active", "Moderator", "Admin", and "Owner" and they will all be able to participate in the group. However, I must consider that each one will still have the rights and permissions of the respective status. Am I understanding this correctly?

Key is the language key and Text is the text for that language key. The descriptions of both inputs describe what they do. You need to search for the string you want to change then review the results for it specifically. So if you want to change Moderator you'd search Moderator, select it from the results, then change Text to "Primary".

As I understand it, even if I change the names, the status will still be functionally the same. That is to say, the "Banned" status will still block the user no matter what I call it. Correct, it doesn't matter what you rename them to. They will still function as originally designed.

When I search for "moderator" there are a seemingly endless number of results including the word. Examples:
MODERATORS_AND_SUPER_ADMINISTRATORS_ONLY_ca2624
Moderators and Super Administrators Only
SELECT_THE_VIEW_ACCESS_LEVEL_REQUIRED_FOR_MODERATO_9ec8b6
Select the view access level required for moderator privileges.
MODERATORS_VIEW_ACCESS_LEVEL_137d42
Moderators View Access Level
CHOOSE_IF_MODERATORS_CAN_APPROVE_USERS_REGISTRATIO_d7b0ae
Choose if moderators can approve users registration.
MODERATOR_APPROVE_USERS_415b1f
Moderator Approve Users
CHOOSE_IF_MODERATORS_SHOULD_RECEIVE_EMAILS_IF_AN_A_5e0f81
Choose if moderators should receive emails if an action is performed requiring moderator attention.
SEND_MODERATORS_EMAIL_5a14f7
Send Moderators Email
CHOOSE_IF_USERS_CAN_REPORT_OTHER_USERS_FOR_INAPPRO_a5cfdb
Choose if users can report other users for inappropriate behavior to moderators.
CHOOSE_IF_IMAGES_UPLOADED_BY_USERS_REQUIRE_MODERAT_42d4ba
Choose if images uploaded by users require moderator approval.
CHOOSE_IF_MODERATORS_CAN_EDIT_USERS_PROFILES_MODER_6f0c36
Choose if moderators can edit users profiles. Moderators can not edit same or higher-level moderators. Note moderators must have Access Administration Interface and Edit permissions within User Management - Permissions.
ALLOW_MODERATORS_TO_EDIT_USER_PROFILES_275535
Allow Moderators to Edit User Profiles
CHOOSE_IF_MODERATORS_CAN_BAN_USERS_PROFILES_FROM_B_cd51cb
Choose if moderators can ban users profiles from being displayed.

What do I choose and what do I change? If I select one of these, it fills in the Key and the text. Do I change the word "moderator" in both the Key and the Text?

After clicking "See More" dozens of times, I found these:

MODERATOR_ca65a6
Moderator
ALL_NONMODERATORS_68deee
All Non-Moderators
ALL_MODERATORS_9747e3
All Moderators

Is this what I change? One of them? All of them? If I change one instance does it matter that "Moderator" appears in countless other instances?
