On my social network site, there are three search fields.
1. Metro area (single drop-down select)
2. State (single drop-down select)
3. Interests (multiple checkbox)
I set 'simple any word match' for Search Criteria.
So when a user select a Metro Area and a State and multiple Interests, the search result pulls any users with matching Interests (which is great) from any States and any Metro areas (which is not so great).
I tried 'advanced' option, it could be too complicated for users. Is there any other options to have exact match for geographical area with any word match for interests?

No, not without using Advanced.
