You have to override the language string and add substitutions to it. For example [username] is a substitution for the users username. See the below tutorial for substitution usage information.
What email you receive depends on your configuration as it could be new user registration, new user needs approval, etc.. so you need to use the language finder to find what string you're wanting to change exactly. See the below on how to do this.
