Searching a range of numbers in a search field

4 years 11 months ago #315041 by wscottchris
I have searched for what I thought might be a popular question.. but have not found an answer.
I have a userlist of students. There is a custom field called GPA which I have set to allow searching.
My question is how can I configure the GPA field to search a range of number from the advanced search page. IE... 3.2-4.0

Should already be the case if it's an integer or decimal field. If it's a text field it's not possible for range searching on text fields. My guess is it's indeed a text field. Previously this was the only option if you wanted a decimal number field since integer does not accept decimals. However, a new Decimal Number fieldtype has been implemented which can now support this properly (stored in database as float type). See the below on how to use a decimal field.

Replied by wscottchris on topic Searching a range of numbers in a search field
Krileon,
Decimal is exactly what I need... but, it does not display in my field type dropdown on the global tab. I am on the most current version of CB 2.4.2 I see the decimal field type on your demo site right under integer. But, not on my site.

You need to install the latest build release. Sounds like you've the latest stable release, which is behind on features and fixes.
