I want to count all users with the same value in a certain CBfield. It is similar with counting all the users with first name 'Hans'.

I tried the following query:

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `#__content` WHERE `firstname` = 'Hans'

But this did not work. I got the following message:

Unknown column 'firstname' in 'where clause'

What do I need to change in order to search in CB fields?

You're quering the _content table. That is where Joomla content articles are stored. CB user data is stored in _comprofiler with Joomla user data stored in _users. Your query should work fine once adjusted to query the _comprofiler table.
