The syntax to output a single media item without the modal window, etc.. is as follows.
[cbgallery:item id="MEDIA_ID_HERE" /]
This works anywhere that Joomla content plugins are supported. Note media output is subject to permission checks so if the viewing user doesn't have permission to view whatever media you're trying to load in then it won't display.
