The userlist isn't designed to be embedded nor is it designed to be chopped up. You'd have to implement your own solution for that. Searching is also userlist specific so there isn't a way to search across multiple userlists. The best I can suggest for a global search is to use Joomla's legacy search component with CB Search Bot.
We'll be reviewing providing a Smart Search plugin with CB 3.x, but it'll be very limited as we have to avoid privacy and access permission problems. Userlist will also be able to be rendered embedded in CB 3.x, but we've a lot to redo before that's possible. So it will be awhile before we can provide an official solution.
