Communication errors with PayPal was created by petekuhn
Using CB 2.9.1, CBSubs 4.7.0, Joomla 4.4.3

We are getting communications errors with PayPal (reported in Notifications), maybe one or two a week, sometimes more, although most transactions have no problems.

The most recent one is could not reach Paypal gateway for notification check COMMUNICATIONS ERROR

Is there anything we can do about this?

Did you review the notification carefully to see why it's erroring? There should be a notification logged with the full HTTP request response. That error happens when PayPal rejects the request.

The HTTP call failed to even reach PayPal. Could be the communication was blocked by PayPal, was blocked by your host, or PayPal was down for maintenance. Either way nothing CBSubs can do in this case. If your host has a firewall configured please be sure it's allowing all outbound calls to PayPal. You can also try contacting PayPal to see if they can provide any further information about failures at the time of the notification logged.
