Hi there,

I have a problem on my Joomla 4.4.5 website, using latest CB component.
The problem is, that the full user name, as registered in the CB profile, can be found via the Joomla Smart search function.

This is an undesired data protection issue and I hope to find a solution urgently.

The full user name is not shown in the user profile and also not in the source code of the concerned article.
This message contains confidential information

Could you please help to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Michael

Within System > Plugins edit "Smart Search - Content" and turn off Author in "Taxonomies to Index". Now purge your smart search index and re-index (Components > Smart Search > Index > Maintenance > Clear Index) and clear the taxonomies (Components > Smart Search > Index > Maintenance > Content Maps). It will then do so without Author.

Please note this has nothing to do with CB and is entirely a Joomla question. We don't provide general Joomla support here so be sure in the future to direct those questions to Joomla forums.

Hi Krileon,

thank you very much for your help.
It seems that the function "Plugins edit "Smart Search - Content" and turn off Author in "Taxonomies to Index"" is not yet available in Joomla 4.
There is no settings to change at all in the Content finder plugin.

Do you have any other idea to prevent that Joomla is grabbing the full user name from the CB profile.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Michael

Joomla isn't getting the name from CBs profile it's grabbing the article author name from their Joomla user.

Only other thing that you might be able to try is to just unpublish the Author taxonomy. I'm not sure if Joomla 4 will just enable it again on scan, but it's worth a try. To do this navigate to Components > Smart Search > Content Maps then find and unpublish the root taxonomy Author.

Aside from that you'd need to consider updating to Joomla 5 as it does not appear that parameter was backported to Joomla 4.

Hi Krileon,

thanks for your advise.
I have tried your proposal but it also did not lead to the desired result.
Still full user names was found through Smart Search.

Anyway, I have now assigned these articles to my webmaster account as a quickfix. Hope to find a better solution soon.

Best regards and have a good day

Michael

Took a look at the Joomla 4 content smart search finder plugin and it will use the author alias if available instead of author name. So when they're creating the article set "Created by Alias" to whatever name they want associated with the article. You should find this under the Publishing tab.
