seems there there is a new image extension out there for use. How can I add this image extension so that users are upload their profile image using this image extension
Image field extension support cannot be changed. jfif extension isn't new and is actually very old and predates jpeg. It's just not very good so it's rarely used as the data layers it was used for can be better represented in EXIF. Save your images as jpeg or png instead. Often you can rename a .jfif extension to .jpg and it'll work fine.
