CB User Search was created by trlbldr
So far, I have not been able to configure CB (v2.10.0) to display the User Search form (pkg_cbusersearch_1.0.1+2025.04.01.14.48.07.7f0fe03ac) on our Joomla (5.3.0) website ( usncva.org/ ). I wanted to create a sub-menu item under the Members main menu item - "Search for Shipmates" - but that doesn't seem possible. I tried to create a site module using CB User Search, but that option doesn't appear to be available.
So, what should I do?
Thanks.

CB User Search is just a Joomla Smart Search Indexer. It allows Joomla's smart search to work with Joomla users and CB users. It doesn't provide searching itself. I recommend reading through its addon page below for more details.

www.joomlapolis.com/addons/cb-user-search

Once installed, configured as desired, and enabled you'd run Joomla's smart search indexer to index profile data.

If you need Joomla menu items specifically for searching through CB users I recommend using user lists. You can configure those within CB > List Management.

Thank you, Kyle.
I hoped to use CB user search to provide registered U.S. Navy cryptologic veterans a quick means for them to find former veterans in addition to the CB User List function. I created four User Lists based on the four varying user classes we established; the links to those User Lists cannot be seen or accessed by public (non-logged in) visitors. Logged-in users who see and use a CB User List may not know whether, for instance, a former shipmate is a member of FRUPAC or a paid-up US NCVA member.
We use EB Ajax Search to offer general Search to site visitors, whether Association members or not.
I configured cbusersearch to comply with the limited documentation regarding Joomla plugins but I'm unable to create a sub-menu item for logged-in users to use cbusersearch.
Oh, well. That's life.
Cheers,

You don't crate a menu item for CB User Search. You create a menu item for Joomla's Smart Search. As explained above it's just a smart search indexer. So it will index all your users and whatever fields of those users you have selected. To do this navigate to Components > Smart Search > Index to run the indexing after you've configured the plugin. From then on it will auto index as users register or are edited.

Then when using Joomla's smart search it will search those users. See our demo site below where this is a pre-searched menu item for Joomla's smart search.

Joomla's smart search also includes a module that also has autocomplete. It's quite good and very fast. The text displayed is also entirely customizable by you so what information it displays is up to you.
