How can I configure a membership plan that has a set starting date (July 1, 2025), and then requires yearly renewal on that calendar day (July 1, 2026, 2027, etc) going forward? I am trying to avoid problems when users want to pay early (qualifies for an early bird discount), or pays late (late fee will need to be applied), etc., each which will not affect the established newal date Our organization wants the renewal date to remain the same for all membership plans.

I can see the regular validity date and can set it to 7-01.  But the regular validity duration gives the options of "This Calendar Year" or "This and next calendar year".  I fear that if I choose the former, it will require renewal when 7-01, 2025 arrives.  If I choose the latter, and the user signs up after 7-01, it will subscribe them to expire 2027..

You can use a "This Calendar Year" plan duration for that. There will be parameter available after selecting it to input the start date of the year. If the year is set to start 07-01 and they subscribed 07-01-2025 then their subscription will run until 07-01-2026 as that would be the year cycle you've established. If they subscribed 06-01-2025 then they would expire 07-01-2025 unless you configured it to accept earlier dates allowing for a free gap.
