The % is just a wildcard for "anything" basically. The asset for groupjive groups is just "groupjive.group.GROUP_ID" so using that you can have an asset of "groupjive.group.%" for all groups for example.

The category a group is in is not a part of the asset so no it is not possible to filter by category.
