Since they don't have a subscription at Stripe it'd just expire and require them to re-subscribe. You can try creating it manually at Stripe like you've done previously with the proper metadata, but I can't guarantee that'd work. It's possible the user themselves cancelled auto-recurring payments or something happened at some point to cause the subscription to be lost at Stripe. If the renewals are a year apart it's also possible the subscription at Stripe didn't get setup properly due to a bug as that's a long time ago.

I'm adding this for search purposes as I've had another similar issue and it might help someone.
The payment via Stripe is shown as pending and the Stripe AI helper states:"This payment is pending because it's a Bacs Direct Debit payment, which takes several business days to process. The payment was created on April x and the expected debit date is today, April x.Bacs Direct Debit payments go through a clearing cycle and typically take 3-5 business days to complete. The payment will remain in a pending status until the funds are successfully debited from the customer's bank account. Once the debit is confirmed, the status will update to succeeded and the funds will be added to your Stripe balance.Ā Ā This is normal for Bacs Direct Debit payments in the UK."
So delays might not be an issue with users payments, just the time it takes their chosen method to complete.
